Yoga & Meditation Teacher

My spiritual life was started from a young age, the initiation of renunciation was started by Guru ji at the age of 6, since childhood my guru started teaching yoga and meditation in the ashram, My yogic life was started from the ashram itself, later on at the age of 15, I completed the practice of 4 months of silence sadhana Which was the most beautiful experience of my life. After completing graduation from journalism, I moved to yoga again, meanwhile I completed 200 hours from sivananda kerala ashram and 300 hours from mysore, and since then I am sharing my experiences and practice with everyone.

SUMIT JI

Yoga Teacher

Sumit is based in Rishikesh and trained there, completing his 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training at Tapovan — the stretch of the town along the Ganges where much of Rishikesh’s yoga teaching is concentrated. He has been teaching for more than 2 years: in-person in Tapovan, alongside which he taught online as well, before joining the teaching team at Abhyasa Yogmath 9 months ago.

His classes cover four practices. Hatha works through foundational postures with attention to alignment. Ashtanga follows a set sequence, moving from sun salutations to postures at a steady pace, building strength and stamina through repetition. Yin slows down, holding postures for several minutes at a stretch to work the connective tissue rather than the muscles. Pranayama is breath control on its own.

Classes are structured for first-time students and experienced practitioners alike, and Sumit continues his own training and practice alongside teaching.
